Earthquake is a natural disaster that may occur anytime
without any warning. A slightly movement of the ground or a strong shake with
high intensity that may result a great damage.
Seismologist can’t tell when or
where will an earthquake happen. It’s a traitorous disaster but we can at least
arm ourselves by knowing what to do when we face this disaster. That’s why earthquake
drills are done to inform us the right way to do during an earthquake. First is
to stay calm when we encounter one. Panic may lead you to more serious problem.
In staying calm, you can have a clear mind to think the right thing to do next
and that is to duck, cover and hold. Find a safe place/area like under the
table so you will not harm by the falling objects. When the quake stops and
it’s safe to leave go to an open space and clear from structure that might
fall.
Remember, Philippines lie within the pacific ring of fire
where active volcanoes and faults are prominent.
